Every year paint companies grab our attention with their annual selection of the Color of the Year. Advance predictions are made, debates are overheard regarding whether it will be a cool or warm tone, and then…. the final unveiling! Perhaps this is more of a “thing” for the design obsessed, but I do always find it fascinating whether the color predictions will ring true for the trends of the future.
First up is Sherwin Williams. For their 2023 Color of the Year…drumroll please….they selected….RedEnd Point (SW 9081). They characterize this color as, “minimal, calming and intriguing.” To me it is more of an accent color than one I would wrap a whole room in, but they did select Evergreen Fog (SW 9130) as their 2022 color and green was/is a huge trend so perhaps they are in the know!
Below is how we would use Redend Point, which does feel like a cozy fall color that would pair well with mossy greens, warm grays, and plum tones.
/ Pillow: I love the moss color for the fall season, and these covers are washable which have been great for our family with kids and dogs.
/ Frame: This is definitely a statement piece and is available in multiple sizes.
/ Throw Blanket: The oversized 50 x 70 knitted throw blanket is the perfect accessory for the cooler temperatures. I chose the dark grey to pair with SW’s paint selection, but the throw is also available in a beautiful cream color (natural).
/ Rug: I love the colors in this rug with its blush tones, sage greens and pops of blues. Made from polypropylene means it will hold up to traffic and is budget friendly.
/ Basket: I love the way a basket adds texture to a space and corrals all the “extras”. Bonus for this one with handles.
/ Original Oil Painting: My go-to for amazing art is Etsy. This original by AmandaTannerArt has the most beautiful confluence of greens that is both timeless and seasonless.
/ Mirror: I am known for choosing large scale mirrors…it’s a thing. I gravitate toward mirrors that will make a space feel more open, as well as show off as an art piece in its own right. This one has texture and warmth, and at approx. 41 x 29 will make a statement.
/ Table Lamp: I love the classic details of this lamp, and it arrives with the neutral oatmeal shade as well.
/ Clock: A wonderful addition to any console, side table or desk. Warm brass with traditional pocket watch details…check and check!
/ Topiary: Olive topiaries, trees and shrubs are everywhere, and if you don’t have a green thumb this faux option more than passes for the real deal.
/ Chest: I am always on the hunt for a piece that has a timeless look with classic lines, while also being functional. It is currently available for pre-order, estimated to arrive March 2023.
/ Chair: I wanted to include a leather chair, as the camel color tones with the Color of the Year is perfection. The chair can be customized with nailheads, has vegan “leather” options, and is available as a swivel or recliner option.
/ Candlesticks: I love the warmth of brass candlesticks…this set of 4 is perfect for warming up a tabletop, or creating a grouping on a shelf.
