This is where we started…
…the middle photo is what it looked like when we moved in. The wet saw was moved out of our bedroom the night before, so this was the very last room to be cleaned out. We still need the final paint job for the walls and trim and I am dreaming of wall paper in the water closet, so this room is evolving. And of course there were adventures along the way that led to the vanity being hoisted up to the second floor and brought in through the bedroom window because it was too heavy to get up the stairs.
For the vanity I knew I wanted color versus a stained wood, but it wasn’t until I saw the Willow vanities (through Etsy!) that I found what I was looking for. I contacted them for paint swatch samples and totally fell for the Aberdeen style double vanity in Pewter. To be honest I was concerned about ordering an “all in one” option, as the vanity was customizable with the countertop and sinks. I knew I was going to change out the hardware (it came with a more yellow brass handle and I wanted to coordinate with the champagne tones I had selected for the faucet), but I was intending on choosing a Calacatta Laza quartz countertop, so I took a chance and ordered it all together. FYI, in case you are in the market, the vanity also came with drawer organizers, and a built-in plug drawer with hair styling tool storage…bonus!
I had total analysis paralysis when it came to choosing the tile in particular. We went everywhere, including trips out of state, to try and find the right combinations for the look I was trying to achieve. I knew I wanted something with warmer tones to make it feel cozy, but also reflect the light so it didn’t feel “closed in”. I selected champagne bronze plumbing fixtures to add more warmth, and decided to forego a fixed bench for a teak one to bring in some natural elements. I am so thankful for the hard work that went into all the details during installation, especially the use of the Schluter linear drain system that enabled us to implement the tiled drain cover for the seamless look of the hexagon marble floor tiles.
On the “finish list” is to get this room its final paint touch-ups and decide on wallpaper selection for the water closet, not to mention better organize all the drawers in the vanity! Below are all the sources, or similar options, for what we selected.
Thanks for reading and sharing in this adventure,
XO Kelly
